Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about anonymizing personal data with Anoxy.
Please note: Anonymization results may contain errors. Professional verification is recommended before use for legal or official purposes.
What is Anoxy and what does it do?
Anoxy automatically detects and masks personal data (PII) in text and documents. It finds items such as names, national identification numbers, e-mail addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses, then replaces them with placeholders so the content can be shared or processed without exposing the original data.
Which languages are supported?
Anoxy currently detects personal data in Polish and English texts. Support for further languages is on our roadmap.
What kinds of personal data does Anoxy detect?
Common identifiers such as full names, national ID numbers (for example the Polish PESEL), tax numbers (for example NIP), e-mail addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, dates and bank account numbers. The exact set depends on the selected language and country configuration.
What file formats can I anonymise?
Common document formats, including plain text, PDF, Word documents and images (through OCR). You can also paste text directly into the anonymizer.
Is my data stored?
Your text is processed to detect and mask personal data. Where de-anonymization is enabled, the mapping between the original values and their placeholders is kept encrypted for a limited retention period and can be deleted. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Is Anoxy GDPR-compliant?
Anoxy is designed to support GDPR compliance by helping you minimise personal data before sharing or processing it. It is an assisting tool and does not replace your own legal assessment — you remain the data controller. Always verify the result before relying on it for legal or official purposes.
Does Anoxy anonymise or pseudonymise my data?
The service replaces personal data with placeholder identifiers (pseudonymisation). The data remains personal data under the GDPR and can be re-identified. It is not fully anonymised data.
Are there any usage limits?
Free and paid plans have different quotas for text length, document size and request volume. Current limits and plans are shown on the Pricing page.
Does Anoxy offer an API?
Yes. You can integrate anonymization into your own systems through our REST API. Full endpoint documentation is available in the API docs.
Is there a browser extension?
Yes. The Anoxy browser extension lets you mask personal data directly in web pages and input fields before sending it to third-party tools. Visit the Extensions page to install it.
Is the anonymization 100% accurate?
No automated system is perfect. Anonymization results may contain errors, so professional verification is recommended before use for legal or official purposes.
